Overview and Objectives
The Basic Course in Diabetes Management and Education comprises the lecture parts of the DDME programme. It provides the latest update in the diagnosis and management of diabetes with emphasis on application of knowledge and acquisition of practical skills. The course is accredited by most professional bodies with credit points for continuing education.
With rapid development in diabetes-related technology and therapeutics, such as biogenetic markers, artificial intelligence, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices, insulin pumps, and incretin-based treatment, this course provides an efficient channel for doctors, nurses, nutritionists, social workers, physical trainers and psychologists, who encounter many people with or at risk of having diabetes, to acquire the latest advances in the field within a few months.
Over the years, course participants were inspired by the breadth and depth of the knowledge underlying these common but complex conditions. Many of them went go to join the DDME or MEDM programmes with quotable qualifications to equip themselves in providing person-centred, evidence-guided and value-based care to their patients or clients.
