Director's Message
Diabetes is a global health and societal challenge of the 21st century where empowerment and holistic care become the cornerstones in diabetes prevention and management. To achieve this common goal, academic research and professional education are vital in our concerted efforts to identify unmet needs, define questions and formulate solutions.
Knowledge transfer and people development are the core values of HKIDO where our signature programmes including the Master and Diploma Courses in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, annual East Meets West Symposium and structured academic exchanges with global scholars and care professionals continue to expand our network of partnership.
Apart from providing comprehensive diabetes assessment services and public education programmes through our nurse-led Yao Chung Kit Diabetes Assessment Centre, we also work closely with our collaborators across disciplines to initiate, support and strengthen interlinking initiatives in the field of clinical, basic, translation and implementation science.
HKIDO would not have achieved so much without the unwavering support of the University, generosity of our donors and commitment of our diabetes care and research team. As we move forward to scaling new heights, we would like to reiterate our heartfelt gratitude to our many supporters for their years of stellar roles in joining us for this meaningful cause to touch on the lives of many people with or at risk of diabetes and its complications.
